Initial Meeting is 7/16/12

The initial get-together to discuss Community Memory is Monday, 7/16/2012 at 6 pm, at the Mountain Arts Community Center (MACC) at 809 Kentucky Ave, Signal Mountain.

Everyone's welcome! We'll be meeting in the Community Communication Project office, Room 5.

You can RSVP on Facebook, or email join@communify.org for more information.

Introduction

Even communities have memories.

We all have stories -- sometimes they're stories about ourselves, our families and friends, about where we live and work and play. But most of those stories -- even the good ones -- are lost forever.

Here's what we can do: we can tell each other the stories we want to keep, recording them -- preserving them for each other and for the future. Then we put them in a database, an archive that can be searched using keywords, and ideally something you can use on the Internet, from anywhere.

This is what we call Community Memory, and it's what we are building right now as part of the Community Communication Project. Yes, you could say it's a local version of the national StoryCorps project, but it's also a little bit more.

Join us [join@communify.org] and meet together as we figure out how to make our Community Memory into something unforgettable.

The first initial meeting for this Action is Monday, July 16, 2012 at 6 pm (MACC on Signal Mountain, Room 5).
